A Blog about Blogging

To blog or not to blog?  According to Parry and Hracs (2020), blogging can bring people together, especially in areas of unpaid work.  In their research about blogging and the work force, they found that the community of bloggers can act as a support system to help one another.  Blogging can support different groups through providing a space for shared experiences.

So, how can blogging be used to help support the skills of learners?  Students can use blogs for several different ways, According to the findings of Kadir and Tasir (2020), students tended to use blogs to communicate with one another.  In their research of patterns around the usage of blogs in computer science education, they found that students used blogging as a form of communication by sharing comments and reflections.  Students also used the blogs to write personal information and instructional posts.

Blogs create an online space for the learner to connect with content, the learning process, and peers.  They help learners to access a community with whom they can learn from and learn with. When learners connect with the process of learning, they become more motived to understand and access the content.  By incorporating blogging into classrooms, training, and online learning, facilitators can anticipate high levels of engagement and peer communication.
